Speech therapy
Speech therapy is the science that detects speech and language disorders, causes of their origin and examines the ways of their elimination.
Speech therapist at the Institute works with:
- Children, adolescents and adults with moderate, severe and profound intellectual disabilities,
- Children, adolescents and adults with intellectual disabilities and cerebral palsy,
- People with a traumatic head injury.
The aim of speech therapy is to enable a person successful communication with respect to their individual physical and mental potentials. Successful communication makes it possible for a person to exercise its own needs and desires and leads to an increased quality of life.
Speech therapy of persons:
- Promotes the development of children's communication skills
- Develops a child's speech
- Eliminates disturbance of articulation
- Determines and prepares a system of alternative communication adapted to the child if speech is not developing
Pathology:
- Alogy and dislogy
- Anarthria and dysarthria
- Stuttering
- Dyslalia
- Work with patients after head injuries
