All residents of the Institute benefit from physiotherapy. Neuro-physiotherapeutic individual treatment is carried out according to the principles of neurological development and is performed in special cabinets, while hydrotherapy takes place individually in swimming pools and in therapeutic tubs with essential oils. Chest physiotherapy is very important for immobile residents. Preventive and curative therapy includes inhalations, massage of the chest and placement in drainage positions. Electrotherapy and ultrasound therapy is primarily aimed at adults who suffer from painful degenerative changes of the locomotor system.
Snoezelen - multisensory environment is used for relaxation and sensory integration. Cabinets fitted with special equipment (water bed, light and sound effects, aromatherapy and items for various tactile stimuli) are used. Physiotherapy is based on individual work, but it is also performed indirectly as a program of integration into daily activities, such as:
Placement in wheelchairs
Placement in the correct position in bed
Placement of orthopaedic appliances
Through their work, physiotherapists also educate the nursing personnel how to handle residents properly in daily activities.
